Wedding Trends 2026: Floral Decorations and Inspiration from Florists

From unconventional bridal bouquets to grand floral installations

In recent years, weddings have been mainly defined by minimalism and muted tones. However, 2026 brings a refreshing change.

Wedding floristry is entering a new era, where flowers are no longer just a subtle background element but become the dominant feature of the entire visual and help shape the atmosphere. Florists Barča and Kačka from the Pardubice flower shop Poupata know this well. In the interview, they shared not only their experience but also their perspective on this year’s wedding trends.

Flowers for bridesmaids: individuality over uniformity

Are you planning flowers for bridesmaids? The bride may surprise you with a request that each bouquet should be slightly different. Modern weddings emphasize individuality, where each bridesmaid carries a bouquet in a different color or with a differently colored ribbon, creating a vibrant and diverse palette that looks perfect both in real life and in photos.

A major trend you will see more and more often in bridesmaids’ hands is floral handbags and baskets. For a cottagecore style, wicker or straw baskets filled with spring flowers are ideal, while beach weddings suit baskets with elegant pearl handles. Vintage handbags decorated with fresh flowers are perfect for retro weddings.

Why is this trend so popular? Holding a handbag feels much more natural than carrying a bouquet, which is immediately reflected in more relaxed wedding photos. In addition, the basket or handbag remains as a keepsake from the big day.

When flowers take over the space

While flowers used to be just part of bouquets, today they are the main decoration of the entire venue. Trends include monumental hanging installations above guests and so-called drippy florals – arrangements that look as if they are literally dripping over the edges of tables, vases, or structures.

Flowers are becoming part of every detail:

  • they decorate place cards,
  • seating plans,
  • mirrors,
  • fountains,
  • and create photo walls.

Classic wedding arches are being replaced by asymmetrical curved designs. These differently shaped silhouettes cover more space and create a modern backdrop for your “I do.” Couples also often stick to a single type of flower, using it in a monotypic concept for bouquets, corsages, and the entire decoration. Herbs and lemons: nature-inspired wedding decorations

Sustainability and the cottagecore trend are bringing unexpected elements to the wedding scene – potted plants and houseplants. “We created decorations using olive trees and herbs like rosemary and sage. It’s eco-friendly, and guests can take part of the décor home as a gift,” says Barča from the flower shop Poupata. Potted plants can line the aisle to the altar or decorate tables.

Another fascinating element is incorporating fruit and vegetables directly into arrangements. Fruit can be fixed into floral foam or simply placed freely on tables and the festive table setting.

“A special wedding for us was one where fruit was used extensively. The groom’s nickname was ‘lemon,’ so there were lemons everywhere. The whole wedding was in an Italian Tuscan style, so it fit perfectly. Exotic fruits like grapefruit, passion fruit, or grapes are now used almost anywhere, but I’ve also seen colleagues in the industry use lettuce or even mushrooms,” adds Kačka.

Primary colors and the return of floral classics

The choice of flowers for 2026 reflects a desire for energy and joy. Muted tones are giving way to primary colors – yellow, blue, and deep red, although the soft combination of buttery yellow and white remains a staple.

The queen of decorations will be Baby’s Breath. Once just a filler flower, it now creates dreamy 3D clouds on chandeliers and along aisles. “We’re seeing a return of flowers that weren’t popular before. Especially anthuriums, orchids, and carnations are no longer disliked by brides,” says Barča.

“Calla lilies are making a big comeback. They were part of one of the most beautiful bouquets we’ve ever created. We combined anthuriums, callas, orchids, and amaranthus, which is a unique flower with a trailing form. We used a lot of buttery yellow and white. We love arranging flowers asymmetrically, letting them flow in all directions. That kind of bouquet is unusual, and that’s what makes it beautiful,” explains Kačka.

What will wedding bouquets look like in 2026?

More and more brides are choosing unconventional bouquets. In addition to asymmetrical arrangements, cascading bouquets resembling a waterfall will also be popular. This type is a perfect choice for brides wearing minimalist wedding dresses, allowing the bouquet to stand out. See how to choose a wedding bouquet that matches your style.

If you’re thinking about how to make a wedding bouquet more interesting, you can opt for something less typical, such as all-green bouquets made of eucalyptus, olive branches, and ferns, or hanging boho bouquets on a stand.

Instead of a veil, brides are choosing floral crowns or delicate natural hair accessories.

  • Winter brides are complemented by succulents and red berries, often seen in Christmas arrangements.
  • In autumn, sunflowers will look stunning.
  • You can also incorporate silk flowers, which look real but remain as a lasting keepsake for the bride and her bridesmaids.
  • Especially abroad, peacock feathers are being added, symbolizing good luck.
  • A design highlight is bouquets arranged on a ring – a metal, wooden, or acrylic circle decorated with flowers.

“We always listen to the bride’s wishes or look at her inspiration from the internet, but we’re happy to advise, and customers expect that from us. We want to know where the wedding will take place, what dress the bride will wear, and we try to come up with something original that reflects her personality,” says Barča.

How much does wedding floral decoration cost?

You are probably wondering how much such floral decoration costs. According to Brides magazine, American couples typically spend 8–10% of their wedding budget on flowers.

  • Bridal bouquet: up to 7,000 CZK (converted from US dollars)
  • Bridesmaids’ bouquets: up to 3,000 CZK
  • Corsage: around 4,000 CZK
  • Boutonniere: around 1,500 CZK

“The most expensive floral decoration our customers ordered cost 60,000 CZK. It was an exceptional wedding in the beautiful setting of Villa Dom Carli,” says Kačka.

Poupata adds that you should start planning your floral decoration approximately six months in advance. The preparation itself includes a long process – from initial ideas and flower selection to ordering and arranging. If you would like Poupata to decorate your wedding venue, we recommend contacting them as early as possible through their social media.
